Does Everybody Have These?

No, not assholes or opinions, but rejection issues. I’ve come to see my rejection issues in the last ten years or so as a sign on my creeping mental illness. Though I’m not normally prone to paranoia, I do have a tendency to see every minor rejection as a sign of some greater rejection or disdain for me as a person. I have to remind myself that this isn’t really true. Probably.

  1. Until recently I would have said no. However I’ve recently been forced to take a hard look at myself and now I would say yes…I have rejection issues.
The biggest one is being rejected by my x-AP. But it goes way beyond that. In hindsight I can find many examples where fear of rejection have played a role in my life.
It’s important to not let other people’s actions or opinions devalue you. Easier said than done, believe me I know. Usually their actions and opinions are just that…”theirs” and not a reflection of us. Instead of looking in the mirror and seeing rejection, turn the mirror around, the perceived rejection belongs to the other person in the mirror.
